The U.S. government will enable the Netherlands and Denmark soon permission to provide F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. The US has assured the two countries, that the approval procedure will be accelerated in such a way that Kiev will be supplied with F-16s once pilot training and Ukrainian technicians is over, announced a US State Department spokesman for German news agency, dpa. “We appreciate Denmark and the Netherlands leading the coalition for training pilots”, said by the UN.
Ukraine had earlier declared that it does not expect this year to receive much-wanted warplanes. It is obvious that this autumn and winter we will not be able to protect Ukraine with F-16” aircraft, said Ukrainian Military aviation spokesman Jury Inhat.
However, it is considered a success that Ukrainian pilots and the “technicians in a time near” will be able to start training, Inhat was quoted by Ukrainian media.
U.S. should give permission for aircraft and training
Within NATO, a coalition headed by Denmark and the Netherlands was established in recent months to train Ukrainian pilots. The United States approved of this. When this coalition was established, it was said that military aircraft can be given to Ukraine from the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway.
The U.S. has to approve the delivery of fighter aircraft from its allies to Ukraine, because aircraft are built by American concert, Lockheed Martin and have sensitive technology on their board.
