As people throughout southern California were being sheltered from Hurricane Hilary, another natural disaster struck an earthquake of 5.1 magnitude.
His empire was northwest of Los Angeles, as it became known that he did not cause serious damage.
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass said that over 100 fire stations were controlling buildings for damage.
The quake has struck at the same time as the posttropical Hilary Cyclone, which left many uncertain residents wondering where to seek refuge.
California Governor Gavin Nesam declared a state of emergency in most of southern California, with more than 7,500 troops deployed to help people prepare for the storm, the BBC reports.
Residents in San Bernadino County were evacuated due to intense rainfall, and the National Weather Service warned of threatening floods in Ventura County.
