US Ambassador to Belgrade in an interview for the Voice of America has talked about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, saying that new efforts will be made in September to solve problems. Asked about Prime Minister Kurti, if he changed his view of him, Hill said his opinion of Kurt is well known.
What I can tell you is that we are working closely with Serbia on solving the problem, we think it makes sense for Serbia and Serbian-American relations and lets others answer that question. My opinion is known” he said.
Hill during June had prompted reactions with a statement to Kurt, saying we have some problems with Kurt, questioning the American partnership with him.
I think we have a problem with Mr. Kurti, he's not ready to admit it. I think we have some very basic problems with him if we can still consider him a partner. But I leave this decision to our embassy in Pristina”, Hill said on June 8th.
A few days later, US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar had named Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti partner of the United States, even though he has said he is sometimes a difficult partner”.
