Blood reserves on QKUK are alleviated due to holiday season

Dr. Hedije Mahmutaj said that increased emergency cases in recent days have contributed to reduced blood supply.

It's because of the frequent emergencies that we've had and we've had less donors, because of the summer season, the cause of the vacation, and that's what's been noticed by the blood supply. The state of blood and blood products is stable because we have extended an invitation to voluntary blood donors because we have had increased emergencies in recent days and blood reserves have begun to decrease”, she said.

In addition, she said that the lack of blood type A and 0 is more obvious.

Mahmutaj pointed out that blood transfusions need blood donors daily.

While the citizen of Drenas, Enver Thaci, said he constantly donates blood and appealed to citizens to help others in need.

And Sabri Bytyci, a regular blood donor, said he will continue to donate blood every year.

The Kosovo National Centre for Blood Transfusion in Pristina is open every day from 8:00 to 1600, while over the weekend from 0900 to 1600.

Also, in the truck located in the capital square, between 10:00 and 5:00 citizens can donate blood.
