The reduction has started Wednesday evening, given the Kosovo Government's pledge to the European Union.
The reduction of police officers is part of the four-point plan agreed on between Kosovo and Serbia, for the extension of the situation in the north.
The agreement envisions the 25 % removal of Kosovo police stationed there when mayors elected in the April 23rd elections were sent.
Now more than a month in the north has been tense, as local Serbs who on occasion violently protested Albanian mayors in northern municipalities and Kosovo police officers around.
After this execution, the second step is monitoring the situation by Kosovo Police with KFOR and EULEX, what will follow with even the reduction of the police and then holding early elections in four northern municipalities.
The latest step is implementation of the Ohrid Agreement and its Anxiety.
