He said President Vjosa Osmani has a unifying role and would have to be more locked in northern developments, inviting all parties “to the meeting to find out what should be done over north”.
“Serbs aim at large Serbia. President Vuciq's goal has been to make division of this territory and unite Serbia. With Serbs we must be determined, to have a national policy. I see it for the great leaders that don't sit down in opposition and make it a strategy. The northern issue is national issues and we must have a national policy.
Kastrati added that Kosovo would introduce the strategy for the north and the internationals, to have it clear also “how to handle”.
“The US has not had to do that, the Kosovo Army is the most reliable institution of the region's armies, but also in the world... wherever it has been proud of us, it has participated in two peacekeeping operations... The US knows very well that the Kosovo Army is in line with the most contemporary standards. It had to hit people who were wrong, politics, but not the most respected institution in Kosovo”.
Kastrati, speaking on Liberation Day, said he served in the Llap Operative Zone during the war, while adding that NATO bombings to Serb targets had occurred as a warning to the surrender of Serbia.
“Bundards have been political because NATO has been able to destroy the Yugoslav Army for 7 days, but have been the easiest bombings, as a warning to accept the chapter and leave Kosovo, but Milosevic has declined and NATO has burdened the bombings. We knew that every day Milosevic with his paramilitary forces was going to turn up... we're prepared, we've been in difficult situations because our ammunition and food were spent. In the Lapi Operative Zone, we went to guerrillas in small groups, hitting the enemy where we could, protecting the wounded until the liberation of the country”, he stressed.
Kastrati said he has trained many young people who have had interest in joining the KLA, but that he has not had the opportunity to train as much as there has been a request to join the war.
