President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has postponed the recent meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for health reasons.
The news was delivered by the White House, which explains that President Biden cancelled and several other meetings after having to undergo an emergency second dental procedure.
President Biden had toothache on Sunday and was treated by doctors at the National Military Medical Centre “Walter Reed”, but the problems seem to have resurfaced a day later and dental intervention is deemed necessary.
Jens Stoltenberg has headed the military alliance since 2014, during which his mandate has been extended three times. Early this year, he indicated that he would leave in late September.
Efforts to replace him have intensified as leaders of the 31-member military alliance gather next month for the annual summit, held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
