Soon after its completion, the painting became popular and was printed on various cards that were sold on humanitarian issues. It was purchased by the book company “Polet“in 1940, and was preserved from that year at the City Museum in Belgrade.
There are not a few myths for the painting, as are the Battle of Kosovo. Serbian historians have not rarely fanned the nationalism of Serbian victimisation through it. And for the painting, from the Serbian approach one thing is not accepted: the Albanian flag seen there.
