The VV candidate in the April 23rd elections, Erden Attic, has come out victorious after the election process, which was characterised by low citizens. He is expected tomorrow to take the oath as chairman of northern Mitrovica. The solemn session will begin at 11: 00 p.m., until the deputy chairman of the Municipal Assembly, Skender Sadiku, has said that preparations for this procedure have gone smoothly.

Sadiku, in a conversation with Gazeta Express, said that after the oath, the chairman should choose the deputy chairman while the assembly will elect the deputy leader for the community, “later becomes the directors and the work is continuing”.

“Since the oath, the chairman must elect the vice president, then we as an assembly should elect the vice president for the communities. It's a matter like any normal municipality, there's nothing extraordinary. The directors are made, and then the work goes on. The good news is, we're trapped right now and we're only working with a director. To carry out this procedure, Local Power Management Minister Elbert Krasniqi told Gazette Express that they have still refused the invitation for the solemn session.

The results of the April 23rd elections were certified on April 28th, so May 28th was set as the deadline for swearing to the heads of four northern-North Mitrovica municipalities -- Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zvecan. If until May 28th they don't swear, they lose the mandate,

“Major with technical role”

US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier has said that the elections held on April 23rd in the four northern municipalities were “regularly the laws of Kosovo mandated with the Constitution”, but added that the new mayors of municipalities in the north should enter only the buildings where they are welcome.

The selected “Offices must enter only the buildings where they are welcome. The location within the municipality in which elected officials take the oath at the ceremony does not affect their status as elected official”, he said in an interview for Telegrafi.

The American ambassador said he expects new leaders to take on technical and non-political roles.
