“A chairman from the Kosovo Albanian ruling party was sworn in office in the majority Serb part of the divided town of Mitrovica on Friday, a month after local elections boycotted by local Serbs. About 50,000 Serbs living in four northern Kosovo municipalities refused voting in protest for the fact that their demands for more autonomy have not been met another sign that a peace agreement signed by Kosovo and Serbia in March is not functioning”, Reuters writes.
It says that voter turnout has been 3.47%, and local Serbs have claimed they will not work with the new mayors in the four northern municipalities. Also, the same scripture says that Serbs in the region have never accepted Kosovo's declaration of independence in 2018, as they still see Belgrade as their capital.
