Jakov Milatovic's inauguration as president of Montenegro, attended by Escobar

At the Montenegro Assembly session in Podgorica, the inauguration of newly elected President Jakov Milatovic is under way. Kosovo will be represented by President Vjosa Osmani, while Albanian President Bajram Begaj will also be present. Croatia's President Zoran Milanovic and BiH Presidency members Zeljka Cvianovic and Zeljko Komsic have also confirmed the arrival.
Representatives of parties -- a large number of non-resident ambassadors and special US envoy Gabriel Escobar -- and Great Britain's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Stuart Peach -- also come to the inauguration.
“Inauguration is a solemn act of entry into the presidential office. He should be an example of the highest democratic standards, and that is why it is envisioned in Montenegro's Parliament. Citizens have given me confidence to do everything in my power to make Montenegro a true democratic society”, Milatovic tweeted.
Milatovic won presidential elections in the second round, held on April 11th, in which he gained the confidence of 60 per cent of citizens.
Under the Constitution of Montenegro, adopted on 22 October 2007, the country's president is elected with direct elections for five years.
From independence on 21 May 2006, Filip Vujanovic held the president's post for two mandates, either during 2008 and 2013.
Milo Djukanovic was elected to that position in the 2018 presidential election.
