Albanian MP in Croatia: Croatian model could be implemented in Kosovo, but modification needed

The Croatian model for national minorities would not be harmful to Kosovo, says Albanian MP in Croatia Ermina Lekaj-Persakaj. According to her, on the basis of this model, self-awareness for Serbs in Kosovo would have a higher level of self-government, but not with executive competence or territorial autonomy, as this mechanism in Croatia refers to the Constitution and laws of Croatia, including documents and symbols. However, Lekaj-Plasskaya emphasises that the Croatian model includes constitutional law for minorities, until with some modifications it would easily find implementation in Kosovo as well.

MP Lekaj-Plasskaya tells of Kosova priss even the manner of functioning of the Serb community in Croatia and the competencies of this “Association”.

“ (This model) may be implemented, but I still go in that direction that may need some modification that adapts to the situation in Kosovo, but not to get away from the base or foundation as the Croatian state has on its proposal”, declares MP Lekaj-Plasskayaj.

Otherwise, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has submitted the draft Asociation Division during the meeting he held with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, 2 May in Brussels. Draft-vision has come in response to a draft status for the Kosovo Serb majority municipalities, which Prime Minister Kurti has refused, saying it is not in line with the Kosovo Constitution.
