On Saturday, the chiefs of missions of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the European Union came out with a joint statement on the application of the Court's decision on property regarding the Decani Monastery. They even said this is a condition for Kosovo's road to the Council of Europe membership process.
In May 2016, Kosovo's Constitutional Court confirmed ownership of the Decani Monastery on several hectares of land. Despite this judicial decision and subsequent requirements, the Court's decision has not yet been implemented seven years later. We are united in supporting Kosovo's democratic and European future. Rule of the law and respect for the independence of the judiciary are obligations for all democraticly elected governments and preconditions necessary for Kosovo's integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, including further progress in Kosovo's application for membership in the Council of Europe. The further delay is only a stumbling block to this” progress, the statement said.
