Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhacka hosted Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, whose visit precedes Spain's EU Presidency in the second half of the year.
At the joint press conference after the meeting, Xhacka informed that part of the discussions was also the issue of Kosovo, which takes on special importance, being a fundamental link to Balkan stability and security.
“Albania is grateful for the commitment of the European Union and our American partners to reaching the agreement on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia. We hope that the agreement will be implemented in a short time, as this would have a very positive impact on stability, but also regional co-operation, and will certainly open a new perspective for a final solution between Kosovo and Serbia”, she said.
Gacka underlined that it is in the best interests of the region, but also of the EU itself, so that with Kosovo there will be a broader and more constructive commitment, including its membership in international organisations, to avoid a isolation that would have consequences not only for Kosovo, but for all of us.
