Shaip Kamberi for Association: Not creating a new Serbian republic in the Balkans

He has declared that no other Serbian Republic should be created in the Balkans.

According to him, even internationals should not allow that.

Kamberi has declared that he believes authorities in Kosovo will not accept mechanisms for Serbs in Kosovo to provide opportunities to destroy territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“I believe that authorities in Kosovo will not accept such mechanisms for Serbs in Kosovo to provide opportunities to destroy Kosovo's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Not a new Republika Srpska in the Balkans should also be encouraging to international mediators”, Kamberi has said.

Kamberi has also talked about the position of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, saying their position is alarming.

“While the position of minorities in Serbia, especially Albanians in the Presevo Valley is alarming, the EU and the US should understand that this approach does not build lasting stability and peace in the Western Balkans. So we think that the symmetry in fair and mutual respect of minorities between Kosovo and Serbia is the principle leading to lasting peace”, it has been expressed.

As for the common declaration of political and institutional representatives of the Valley, where they have sought equal rights such as the Serbs in the European plan, Kamberi has confirmed that the same demands are being made since 2004, but that they have encountered deaf ears.

“With the last Declaration, we only repeat our position for reciprocity by stating the bad practice that is being tried to build for exclusive rights only to a minority, the Serb in Kosovo. We will continue with the insistence on universal respect for minority rights”, Kamberi has stated among other things.

Otherwise, Albanian political and institutional representatives of the Valley municipalities have signed a joint declaration urging respect for their rights similar to those of Serbs in Kosovo.

In the document provided by Front Online, at the very first point they require the full realisation of the collective rights of Albanians, according to the highest standards seen with relevant UN documents, the European Union and the Council of Europe, as well as relevant practices, and their address within the framework of Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue and the European proposal.

Among other things, the inclusion of the issue of Albanians in the Presevo Valley in talks between Kosovo and Serbia in the Brussels dialogue is required, with the goal of equalising the position of Albanians in the Presevo Valley with the position of Serbs in Kosovo.

This statement has been signed by political and institutional representatives of three Presevo Valley municipalities, Serbia's Parliamentary MP Shaip Kamberi, National Albanian Council Chairman Ragmi Mustafa, the mayor of the Bujanoc municipality, Nagip Arifi, the head of the Bujanovac Community Assembly, Enver Ramadani, Presevo Assembly Speaker Sami Salihu, chairman of the Presevo Assembly. The same was not signed by Presevo Mayor Albania Arifi and LPD chairman and deputy chairman of the Bujanovac municipality, Albania Musliu.
