Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor's Office has initiated a case against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik for denying genocide, this institution for Radio Free Europe has confirmed.
Under the law, following the initialisation of the case, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Prosecutor's Office conducted an investigation, after which the prosecutor of the case decides whether to file an indictment.
After this procedure, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirms or rejects the indictment.
“Genocide hasn't happened there, all of us in Republika Srpska know this”, Dodik said during a media conference in Banja Luka on 21 February.
Dodik made that statement regarding Srebrenica after the High Representative approved the amendments to the Law for the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Centre on 21 February. Changes in this legislation allow money from donated funds for burial and memorials for victims to be redirected to other operating needs of the centre.
This is not the first time Dodik has denied genocide since former High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Valentin Inzko adopted the Law to prevent the denial of genocide in late July 2021.
