Also invited was Democratic Party of Kosovo chairman Memli Krasniqi, who spoke of gender equality in the party he leads.
Krasniqi said that for “50/50 access to PDK” was personally engaged, adding that a special table for women and another for men should not exist.
The moment I got my faith to lead it The PDK has made it clear that we are reforming. I've had a personal concern about women because the difficulties they face are much bigger than men. Women's separate organizations should not exist. I've had a personal commitment to this job, it's been my commitment, and I've considered it a more priority than in the past, better late than ever”, Krasniqi said.
He said other political parties would have to adopt a platform like the Democratic Party of Kosovo for gender equality.
“Secilla party will have to adapt a platform similar to the PDK for gender equality at any level of decision-making could be a good model, it would not be the end of the world nor shameful for other parties to adopt this model, to adopt it for themselves. That would be bad, they could advance it, make it better if it's possible”, he added.
He said that without imagining things, they cannot be realized, adding that they already have the first fruits of gender equality.
He stressed that since 2001 in first post-war elections The PDK has had the country's first woman candidate for president, Flora Brovina.
For me as chairman was the priority of seeing women in local elections, we had the largest number of women for mayors. They must have the same space as others. We need more governments' commitment to having a full and true equality”, he said.
Krasniqi said there is no political consensus on gender equality issues, because parties have different priorities, sometimes different contexts with which they function.
