During its first reading, the Council may decide to accept the European Parliament's stance, with which the legislative act is adopted, or it may change the position of Parliament and return the proposal to Parliament for second reading.
Following the agreement between member states on visa liberalisation for Kosovo, under which it should enter into force no later than January 1st 2024, the Permanent Committee of Representatives (COREPER II) has given its approval for last year's November 30th proposal.
The visa liberalisation issue will now be put to the polls in the European Parliament.
This institution in an answer to the Express Journal has shown the date when this vote could occur.
“Now the file will go to the plenary session, and the current assessment is that it will be at the second plenary session in March or the first of April”.
On the official EP page, the second plenary session is scheduled to be held on March 29th and 30th, while that of April will be held on 17th to 20.
