He has drawn criticism toward the Government, asking the question of when coal is being maintained and what strategy this is.
When are we guarding coal? What strategy is that? Why should businesses buy three times as expensive coal from Serbia and other countries?
Why not export coal when there are demands from several countries due to the energy crisis?
Full response:
We import coal.
A number of businesses in Kosovo use coal to heat jobs or in production technology. These coal businesses have usually been bought by the company “Kosova Thrgjili”, which is functioning as a stock society. This company has bought coal from KEK, processed it and sold it to businesses or exported it.
This company contract with KEK is not active. Her workers are out of income. Today private businesses are forced to import coal from outside. At least 6m euros of coal have been imported last year. The town has also been imported from Serbia, at the price of 200 euros per tonne, compared to 60 euros per tonne from “Kosova Thurili”.
