Germany: Kosovo, Serbia stick to EU plan for international organisations

Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, held a joint trilateral meeting on February 27th in Brussels, under the mediation of Josep Borrell and Miroslav Lajcak. That meeting has been discussed on the European proposal. Both sides were declared in favor of him, although for the same, there was no signature.
Among other things, in that agreement it is said that the parties will not stumble each other into international organisations.
But it does seem that Vucinqi did not take this document seriously.
In a speech after Brussels meeting, he said Serbia would never allow Kosovo to become a member of the UN.
That's what I'm talking about. The tv has demanded opinion from the sponsor state of the European proposal, Germany, if this Vucinic declaration constitutes violations of the agreement.
In a written response from the German Embassy in Kosovo, they have said the parties should adhere to the clear commitment of the proposal, in particular the article for international organisations.
The “was important that both sides came to Brussels on Monday and agreed in principle on the proposal. We call on both sides to actively engage in the further process. This includes respecting their clear commitments to all aspects of the proposal, including those related to international organisations”, it is said in the German response to Clankosova.tv.
Germany also said it welcomed the positive outcome of Monday's dialogue meeting in Brussels after the “both sides agreed to the German-French proposal”.
The German government, the Embassy says, strongly supports the EU-led dialogue and EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak's efforts.
“Proposal provides the opportunity to take a major step forward and achieve a comprehensive normalisation of relations. This chance should now be used by the parties”, pointed to the German Embassy's response in Pristina.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti was quick to react after Vuciqi's statement.
He said Serbia's “president vowed last night that he would reject Kosovo's membership in the UN”.
This would constitute a clear violation of the fourth article of the EU proposal. The normalisation of relations is possible only if both sides negotiate in trust. Serbia has apparently decided not to do so”, Kurti said on Twitter.
Klankosova.tv has also contacted the American Embassy in Pristina, but the same have only referred to the statement by UN spokesman Ned Price, who earlier days issued a communique through which he welcomed Kosovo and Serbia's agreement on the European proposal.
The yesterday meeting was a good step forward, but it remains a difficult task. The agreement on the implementation annex is essential for normalisation under the EU proposal”, Price said.
