Finland has started to build a 200km border fence on Russia's border to boost security.
Border Guard said the fence would be three meters, with thorn wire on top.
Finland is the European Union country that shares the longest border with Russia at 1,340 km.
Currently, Russia's borders are provided only through a light wooden fence.
Finland has decided to build new defence after increasing the number of Russians who want to escape recruiting in their country to fight in Ukraine.
This Nordic state is also approaching NATO membership.
After the start of the war in Ukraine on February 24th of last year, Finland and Sweden have decided to join the north-Atlantic alliance as soon as possible, ending neutral approach.
But Helsiniki faces less diplomatic problems than Stokholimi, as the Finnish government wants to move forward, ahead of general elections held in Finland in April.
Only Turkey and Hungary have not yet ratified Finland and Sweden's applications for NATO membership. / REL
