New electricity tariffs are expected to take effect from April 1st this year until March 31st 2024. Some citizens we interviewed say that this still makes their pockets worse.
This is not okay, this situation is a citizen problem. This poverty against citizens, the government should think, this is very wrong”, a citizen told Radio Kosovo.

The economy's recogniser, Safet Gerjaliu, speaking of Radio Kosovo, says Kosovo has lost the battle with energy, at moments when the construction of new generation capacities is cut off, and on the other hand there is a politicisation in terms of alternative energy.
“should not be expected better because prices have been warned they will rise annually. The government must build new production capacities, and in particular alternative energy, and in this direction we are standing down. While local electricity production is being blocked because of the politicisation of bureaucracy, import is increasing and today in Hungary's bead 1 kilowatt of electricity is 473 euros, so I believe it must be learned from these failures, but I am afraid that the old energy politicisation ava is continuing further”, Gerjaliu said.

Kosovo has closed 2022 with an average inflation rate of 11.6 percent. The increases have suffered prices of almost all food products and services.
