In line with the Law on Declaration, Obligation and Property Control of High Public Officials, the AKK in the past year has cast lots for the full control of the assets of senior public officials.
From the short list, it had dropped to become full control of the property of 20% and officials obliged to declare their property. Out of a total of 4662 declarative subjects, 932 officials would have to undergo full control of property by the AKK. But is the AKK doing this?
Periscop has sent questions to this institution to learn how many state officials have been checked on property so far and what have been the biggest findings, but the AKK has refused to respond.
Among the officials to be investigated wealth by the Anti-Corruption Agency has been Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca. Also targeted were several deputies.
The Anti-Corruption Agency has these responsibilities:
Initiation and conduct the procedure of investigating and preliminary investigating corruption and conveying criminal allegations of corruption cases to competent public prosecutor, unless criminal procedure is conducted in the same case;
Co-operates with local, foreign and international institutions that have missions for prevention and fighting corruption;
In co-operation with the Commission, Government, other institutions and non-governmental organisations, drafts the anti-corruption strategy and action plan;
Supervising and preventing cases of conflict of interest and taking the first measures by particular law;
Supervising the assets of senior public officials and other persons, as provided by special law;
Oversaw accepting gifts related to the carrying out of office and making the first legal arrangements, etc. /Periscopi/
