The Kosovo Embassy in Tirana organised its official reception on February 15th on the 15th anniversary of independence.
What caught sight of was the absence of many Western ambassadors in Tirana and important Albanian politicians, besides Republika President Bajram Begaj, who would then leave for an official visit to Kosovo.
Such a protocol has never been seen in 15 years. And the cause seems to have been Embassy protocol itself.
Under the instructions of Minister Gervalla, Kosovo's ambassador to Tirana, Skender Durmishi, has made known everywhere that unlike other West Embassys, he has invited Sali Berisha to attend, as leader of the Democratic Party and Albanian opposition.
That, however, has prompted reactions to many Western diplomats in Tirana who do not want to have contact with Berisha. Especially this, as far as the American Embassy is concerned, the place in which Berisha is designated as unwanted by the State Department (non grata).
In waiting exactly, the US Embassy was missing, an unprecedented thing in the history of American reports with Kosovo.
Further, many Western ambassadors were missing except for Germany, Austria, and Great Britain, who probably had no information on the invitation made to Berisha.
For its part, meanwhile, Berisha himself has not participated in the organised party, as there has been fear that “could drop” and be isolated in the event, not speaking to anyone.
But even without going, he caused the damage!
The Kosovo Embassy's official invitation to destroy its holiday and to abandon Kosovo because of it was enough.
Since the non grata was proclaimed by the United States and Great Britain, Sali Berisha is not invited by any European Union embassy, or American, and does not participate in any of their activities.
Apparently, the political guidelines of Minister Gervalla and Kurti Government, who want to make politics with Kosovo, managed to isolate it in Albania's capital, Tirana, from the West, just because of a name: Sali Berisha. (Albaniapost)
