Abdullah: The dialogue will be extended because Italics will be strengthened

Yesterday, on February 27th in Brussels, one of the most important meetings of this decade between Prime Minister Kurti and Serbian President Vuciq, mediated by the European Union, was held. At last night's meeting, the parties agreed to accept the Franco-German (European) plan, however, the negotiations, as EU top diplomat Joseph Borrell said, on the implementation modalities [...]

In an interview for Periscope, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Mr. Faton AbdullahHe described the meeting last night at some points. He says that in relation to recognition, Kosovo is one step forward and two behind the back, referring to the establishment of association “with new annexes that go beyond what has been agreed on in earlier dialogue processes”.

Read below Mr. Abdullah, give it to Periscope:

PERISCOP: After last night's meeting Kurti Vuciq, in a part of Kosovo's opinion, the impression was created as if Kurti has not signed a harmful agreement on Kosovo. In a word: last night's meeting was seen as a victory for Kosovo. Is this a misunderstanding or a misinterpretation (or both)?

FAT ABDULAH OnN: The impression was actually made that unless the agreement was signed by Vucinqi (because Kurti declares it would sign) it is good for Kosovo, or otherwise returned as such is harmful to Serbia. This actually shows that Serbia has investigated that thanks to the political terrain that has been created, I can get even more than the current agreement offers, especially in relation to association as self-enigration. In summary, we have a deadlock in this whole process, or even more precisely, politically, especially in relation to recognition, we have a step back.

PERISCOP: What are the problematic parts of the European plan? Due to estimates, is autonomy cited for the Serb community, the status of the Serbian Orthodox Church? What can you tell us more about these, referring to the plan/agreement but also to other parts of it?

FAT ABDULAH OnN: The problems are many, out of those who have not a little confusion in text, which leave room for different interpretations in the near future, to what recognition of the state of Kosovo is not part of the agreement. To worse than recognition, the center is what has been named as "vetmanagime," which will be associated with new annexes that go beyond what has been agreed on in previous dialogue processes. This is a huge degradation, and it's the policy range of Kurti Government that's been making for two years.

PERISCOP: Are there benefits from this plan and what are they?

FAT ABDULAH OnN: There is no progress in politics, but there is deformity. On the other hand, the mention of war often, as well as incidents that were created in the north recently, seem to have frightened the international community that Kosovo or perhaps even a small part of the Balkans could become the second Ukraine. So there seems to have been increased efforts by internationals to absorb the dangers of a possible war, even though such a threat has not been seen on the horizon. This dialogue, that Kurti Vuchq, has made that impression, no matter what the fact. The EU considers its dimension successful, that is, preventing the deteriorating situation in the north and its possible expansion throughout Kosovo.

PERISCOP: How do you assess the findings that with the European plan, dialogue lasts another 10 years?

FAT ABDULAH OnN: The dialogue will be extended because ʹsatus quaja will be strengthened. This agreement is making the whole dialogue an endless political climate, because the end to us is just recognition from Serbia. Unfortunately, there's just no recognition here.

PERISCOP: What is expected of the next meeting, Kurti Vuciq, who was warned about mid-March?

FAT ABDULAH OnN: If the good day is seen in the morning, then by this dark and vague political morning of the meeting, Kurti Vuciq, uncertainty will be strengthened even more. We've never had more transparency than in these last meetings, Kurti-Wucinq. Other deformities can be expected as a result, especially in the relationship as self - pity. /Interviewed: Dafina Demaku/Periscopi/
