Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has criticised the Constitutional Court for disregarding the timetable to address the laws being sent to the Court.
At the Council for Democracy and Human Rights meeting, she said vetoing, which is among the key reforms, is pending for 10 months for the Constitutional Court's opinion.
“As far as the matter of rule of law is concerned we have taken certain actions, in this case unfortunately vetoing the justice system, which is one of the key reforms still waiting for the Constitutional Court's opinion. The Constitutional Court has a two-month deadline to address laws opposed by the Kosovo Assembly. But in sensitive laws and no other law, the court does not respect this” deadline, she said.
Meanwhile, ombudsman Naim Qeyaj said that only 20 percent of the recommendations from this institution have been implemented so far while awaiting implementation of 80 percent of the other recommendations.
He said there are a large number of recommendations awaiting implementation by the country's authorities and institutions.
