Former Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Visar Ymeri has said the international community's pressure on Prime Minister Albin Kurti has produced results for accepting the Association of Serb majority municipalities.
Ymer has said that Prime Minister Kurti's wrong steps have damaged Kosovo in the international arena. In addition to damage to reputation, Ymer claims the Kosovar side is often seen as preventing the progress in the dialogue process, which he says produced sanctions.
While agreeing with the chief of executives, Ymer calls it an enormous step in the process.
“I hope that the document is in our hands and we really learn what, up to today from public statements, is one thing that seems to be true as far as the last meeting in Brussels, that's another model for some things that have had a disagreement, both Kurti and Vuchic, seems to have had no substantial remarks from either side, this is an extremely big step in the process of dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, formally agreed to”, Ymer told the EO.
Ymer, who heads the Institute “Mousine Koklari”, has said the northern events have changed Kosovo's position.
According to Ymer, the chief of executives has thought, through the north, to strengthen Kosovo's position in dialogue, but to view it as wrong and without results.
<x0pression has increased, I think Kurt has taken some false steps in relation to the dialogue process which I think many have damaged Kosovo's position but also personally in reporting with the international community, because it has often had some irresponsible behavior in relation to the north, hoping that changing the situation on the ground will change Kosovo's position in the dialogue process and what we've seen recently haven't strengthened the process but weakened in the sense of creditability and willingness or willingness to listen to Kosovo's arguments in the international community and because of our conduct. Their demands and generally that the Republic of Kosovo is recently seen as a stumbling block in the dialogue process, so we have the sanctions in which we are committed while we know all that Serbia actually has been and remains a stumbling block, but our behavior has covered this destructive position of Serbia”, Ymer has said.
Among Kurt's wrong steps by Ymer is the lack of enthusiasm for dialogue with Serbia.
Ymer has declared that Prime Minister Kurti has had to use the moment for completion of the dialogue, especially after the American President Joe Biden's request, who in his letter demanded that dialogue end with mutual recognition.
Kurti's “abim is that it has no longer acted an enthusiasm added immediately in the dialogue at the moment it came to power, but it has considered it a trivial topic, nor will it be taken and postponed until a moment that has become a geopolitical problem, dialogue could not be carried out even in 2021, but at least it had to have Kosovo have a more intense demand or activity that requires the outcome of the dialogue then, primarily after President Biden sent to him of President Vuciq, where he asks for dialogue to end with mutual recognition. A mutual recognition has not been ruled out, but it has been pushed into phase”, Ymer said.
“Recognition de-jure is meant to be done as Serbia joins the European Union, and the European Union states have repeatedly said that. The condition Serbia has for membership in the European Union is Kosovo's de-jure. The rules of the game define the mediators, and they have stressed that this agreement is legally binding both for Kosovo and for Serbia, which is that we have no choice but to implement what is required of both sides and there is no need for signature. I think that if this agreement is implemented soon now that it is called the second normalisation agreement that should be implemented by March of next year, then Kosovo and Serbia should talk and discuss other topics that are envisioned in the basic agreement to normalise relations in each area of”, Ymer for EO has declared.
