Welcomed to formation of KSF Intelligence Agency

The formation of the Security and Intelligence Agency (AISM) is seen as an essential and much needed step at the time when Kosovo is facing threats from Serbia.

Awareers of security issues stressed for Online Economy that this Agency will have an important role in state protection and civic security.

They have stressed that this Intelligence Agency, which will operate within the KSF, will not undermine the role of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), but, according to them, it will be an aid to it as they will be linked security links.

Security expert Drizan Shala has told Online Economy that the establishment of ESM is the right step in completing the country's security architecture. According to him, it is in the army's domain to have such a mechanism that protects the national assets of Kosovo.

“The KSF I think is an appropriate step in closing the security architecture. Since we now have, within Kosovo, several mechanisms dealing with classified information, dealing with intelligence issues that are AKI, but now in a military way, it would be extremely helpful in exchanging information with the friendly partners the Kosovo Army has. It is in the military domain to have such a mechanism that protects the national assets of Kosovo that are within its military”, said.

He said this agency does not undermine the role of AKI, because they operate in different self-activists.

“According to the bill that has been passed on the first reading is in the field of co-ordination and co-operation, does not undermine the AKI activity, because the scope is different. Who knows that AKI has a civilian share, there is part of the security that corresponds to national security, while this part of the Military Intelligence Agency has largely its activity under the Kosovo military component”, he said.

Arben Dashevci, an expert on security issues, said that the ESM creation is essential, as KSF needs this agency to protect the country's territory and provide security to citizens.

I would call it essential not only important but I would call it essential. We are an independent and sovereign state, we have the army and police, but we have the AKI. The army needs intelligence for the country's defence because it will serve to protect Kosovo's territory. Given that in the situation we are in, it is essential to create this Agency for Protection and Security within the Kosovo Army, currently KSF”, he said.

Dashevci added that the formation of ASM will not undermine the role of AKI as they are bound chains.
