Former head of the Central Election Commission Valdete Daka declares that elections in the country's north could be held only after the resignations of the current mayors.
This issue, according to her, can only be resolved with a political agreement, but not with administrative guidelines for removing the mayors from their post.
For this document, aka says it is not constitutional and that the CEC cannot organise something that has no mandate.
The administrative guidance enabling citizens of the north to dismiss the mayors through a petition was drafted by the government for the full extension of the situation in northern Kosovo.
The former CEC chairman considers this document will not offer solutions. Daka considers that the Central Election Commission cannot organise a referendum, since it is not in its mandate.
However, it considers that there should be a political agreement, since more it is such a matter.
Northern Serbs had boycotted the April 23rd elections and later rejected elected mayors in four municipalities.
Later, Kosovo had reached agreement with the European Union on lowering tensions, and the holding of new elections in the north was also involved. /Kosovo priss
