The retired general of the Kosovo Security Forces, Kadri Kastrati, has declared that Serbia through paramilitary people and local Serbs will attempt to install any eventual massacres in the country's north.
On a live line on the “Five” show, Kastrati has said there is information that a considerable number of local Serbs are being trained in barracks around Kosovo.
Meanwhile, at the next two-day meeting, NATO foreign affairs ministers will discuss the possibility of a permanent increase in the number of soldiers under the alliance's peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, the chief said NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.
Regarding this statement, Kastrati says such a thing is positive for the country so that borders and security are not threatened.
“I think it's very appropriate, because the number of NATO troops in Kosovo will not be enough for the security that every day and more are threatening the borders of Kosovo, but also the internal security, given that the extreme Serbs, be they locals or even the paramilitary people, are trying to insist on a conflict in northern Mitrovica and to achieve their goals that the Western Balkans be not at ease what is in their lot. Russia through Serbia is trying to do this, and I'm concerned because some information in the barracks around Kosovo, Race, Kralev, has been given their military ranges, where a considerable number of local Serbs are being trained, people who are arranged in the northern brigade, and for this reason I think we shouldn't worry whether Serbia will enter Kosovo, because there is a great fear of NATO, but they will try to insist through the local paramilitary people to install any northern massacres in Kosovo...1x> he said.
According to Kastrati, Serbs have not given up and are preparing strongly in small groups.
“They have not given up, they are preparing more strongly, but in the future if they try to do so, they will not do it with larger groups like Banjska, but with smaller groups struggling with smaller groups, more quickly radicalise Serbs there... the biggest risk is exactly in this direction”, he added.
“The government is not providing enough budget for KSF”
While questioning where the KSF currently stands with the capacity to protect security, Kastrati says that although it has moved on with the dynamic plan, however, the government is not providing enough budgets for this force.
“The KSF has moved on with the dynamic plan that was adopted in 2014 and so far are in the right step to achieve capacity based on the development plan. The government is not providing enough dynamics, sufficient contributions that this force is based on all the challenges we're facing every day... we have mild growth but not enough. The 2024 budget is a significant increase... but it is not enough to use or exploit this budget enough for capital projects such as the purchase of necessary weapons and equipment”, Kastrati said at RTVD.
