Families affected by the June floods of this year in the Pec municipality have not received the compensation promised by their municipality, which has estimated that the damages are millions of euros.
Even though the municipality had promised families that it would all be repaid, citizens complain that not only have they taken nothing but that the damage assessment has also been unrealistic.
The municipality has confirmed that there are 521 cases of family damage, businesses and vehicles, which have reached over 2m euros.
The citizen of Peja, whose entire house has been damaged, has told Kosovo priss, that after the floods, he has arranged the house at all costs from the beginning, and that he is waiting for his compensation from the municipality.
He said he spent over 20,000 euros, but that compensation from the municipality belongs to only seven thousand euros, which he considers unfair.
Likewise, the other citizen whose business has been damaged by natural flows said that after the municipal flows, no compensation has been distributed. He said that even today there are still work cars that are not yet functional.
While Nasser Kolcak, whose family business has been damaged, asked the municipality to pay the damages as soon as possible.
Director for Protection and Rescue in the Pec municipality Gzim Gashi has declared for Kosovas that the municipality has fulfilled its duties to come to the aid of families affected by the floods.
Gashi said there have been many requests for help, and for that reason the damage assessment has been delayed. According to him, the damages will be distributed as soon as possible.
