The European Commission still has no stance on the agreement signed Monday between Albania and Italy on the creation of refugee camps.
A European Commission spokesman has declared to Italian media that Brussels authorities are in contact with the Italian side to learn more details about the pact reached between the two states.
The EC spokesman says that “before commenting further, we need to understand what exactly we intend to do”, writes Euronea.al.
European Commission officials confirm they have been notified of the agreement between the two states before it was signed in Rome by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Italy's Prime Minister Georgia Melon.
The deal became known Monday by Italy's prime minister during the media conference with Albanian counterpart.
During her speech, Melon said the pact signed between Albania and Italy is a model of co-operation that can be used by other European Union countries to deal with the immigrant crisis.
