Borell sees Kosovo, Serbia as obstacle, but says Ukraine will bring dynamics for integration

European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell, before meeting with the leaders of the Union's diplomacy, has stressed that there is an obstacle to negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo. But it says Ukraine will bring dynamics for integration.

The European Commission has proposed opening a negotiation process with Ukraine. This will cause an avalanche of other countries that want to join. There is an obstacle to negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo, but the dynamic that Ukraine will initiate will affect all candidate countries that currently expect their turn in the negotiations process”, Borrell said.

He has said that today, at an extended meeting with the ministers of the Western Balkan countries, he will discuss the recently approved report on European Commission enlargement.

Borrell also stressed that the Western Balkans region is very important for the European Union.
