In a decision published by Express JournalOn November 3rd, 2023, Krasniqi's suspension -- known as “Tender's Father” -- came after sanctions by the US State Department (DASH)
Mr. Nexhat Krasniqi, the result of sanctions imposed on him by the United States State Department of America and given the relationship between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the United States, was placed as the device of this decision. The suspension will be in effect until the final decision is made under the legislation in force”, the decision said.
The decision, signed by MMPHI Deputy Secretary General Izedin Bytyqi, tasks the Procurement Division, the Human Resources Unit and the Business and Finance Division for implementation of this decision, which goes into effect on the signing day.
Otherwise, the US State Department on November 3rd, 2023, has placed Nexhat Krasniqi, the former official procurement of the Ministry of Commerce, due to involvement in major corruption. He will be barred from entering the United States.
“As a public official responsible for overseeing procurement contracts, Krasniqi has abused his public post by accepting bribes in exchange for granting the contract to allow industrial park construction in the Drensian municipality of Elton”, the report said.
After Krasniqi's sanctions, the United States of America's Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Havenier, has reacted. According to him, Krasniqi's sanctions show how seriously they deal with the issue of corruption.
This announcement reconfirms the seriousness with which the United States deals with corruption issues. We will continue to use all available means to promote accountability and prevent future criminal behaviour by supporting Kosovo's institutions for rule of law”, Houvenier wrote on Twitter.
