Albania once again Russia: Becomes a member on board U NESTO

By 134 votes, Albania was elected yesterday (15 November) by a secret member vote of the U Executive Board NESTO, another indicator that Albania is on its way to gaining significant positions in the international arena. Albanian Ambassador to U NESTO, Besiana Kadare, has said the choice in this task gives Albania great political weight.

“A beautiful news for Albanian diplomacy that proves and the credibility we enjoy as a reliable and responsible partner. The choice gives great political weight to our country”, Besiana Kadare commented today in an interview for “Report Tv”, adding that “has become a major lobby of more than a year even in New York”.

Apart from member country on U Executive Board NESTO, Albania during October, also became a member of the UN Human Rights Council, where it was in the race with Russia.

Russia's bid to be a member of this council had collapsed because of its invasion of Ukraine.

Russia competed with Bulgaria and Albania for two open countries designated for the Eastern European regional group, but received only 83 votes in a UN General Assembly vote.

As in the case of the Council for Human Rights, so in the vote for the U Executive Board NESTO, Albania has left Russia out.

For four countries on board U executive board NESTO was running six states. Besides Albania, members have also been elected Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Serbia. While Albania received 134 votes, Russia received only 94, remaining out for the first time in U history NESTO.

“is the first time Russia has been lost in all history created in the U NESTO. It is the second time within a month that Albania wins a vote in a country in an international body. A few weeks ago Albania won the Human Rights Council, where Russia again lost. That's very significant. It's a strong signal that the international community has given Moscow”, Kadare points out.

Albanian Ambassador to U NESTO said they will work for Kosovo's membership in this organisation, but in other international ones as well.

However, she acknowledges that Serbia's presence in this Bord is problematic for the Kosovo case.

The non-recognition of Kosovo independence on the Executive Board, and Serbia rejects its membership in the UN and international organisations, including U n NESTO. He has even lobbied against Kosovo's accession to UNESCO”.

Kosovo is the project we will work on in the future. Kosovo has the place, sooner or later and that will happen”, Albania's ambassador to U said NCO, Besiana Kadare.

Meanwhile, the remains outside of Russia were commented yesterday even by the president of Ukraine.

Russia's international role will only continue to weaken”, Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on the social X network.
