In the elections for the Swiss Federal Parliament, which took place on 22 October, there were many Albanian-rooted candidates, writes albinfo.ch.
Mostly Albanian candidates, there were from the Social Democrat Party (SP/PS), but there were not many who ran for other parties, such as the FDP (Liberals), Die Mitte (centre), SVP, etc.
Islam Alijaj, is the only one who has managed to elect an MP. Alijaj is among the Social Democrat Party (SP) and has won 95,054 votes from Switzerland's citizens with the right to vote.
On the other hand, the politician, Progress Avdili, from the FDP party failed to assume the MP post. He garnered 51559 votes, which were insufficient.
“Thank you very much for 5150 votes. I honestly have to admit that I have expected more, and in line with my circumstances I am disappointed. Apparently not enough. Of course, I will hold back and continue to fight for a liberal Switzerland. Unfortunately, the FDP's score on all levels also leaves something to wish for, and this calls for responsibility”.
Insufficient votes to elect an MP included Arber Bulaaj from the party ranks SP/PS. He garnered a total of 23,373 votes.
“have been many intensive months, full of events, events and large meetings. Switzerland has slipped to the right overall, which is tragic because a right slide means higher rent and increased health insurance cuts, and social lobes see the Federal House as their home. As for my results, I am satisfied.
Korab Rasiti from the first SVP/ UDC garners 64,427 votes, also insufficient for a seat for Parliament.
The results of yesterday's evening elections, unfortunately, did not bring the expected results. With 64,427 votes, this was clearly not enough on this SVP list. The campaign has given me the opportunity to meet many people, including you, and I am very grateful for your support. As a community, however, we are still far from engaging in political decisions where we live and where our children are educated. Our community needs to learn from this experience; we need to create structures that allow not only to select the people we want but also to act on other issues when necessary. Soon, we will work to establish a federal-level network to respond to our future concerns and build a strong community here in Switzerland. Thank you for your support during this” campaign, Rashiti Korab has indicated.
