Summit participants will discuss how to make Europe more flexible, more prosperous and geostrategically important, the European Union Council announced.

The presidents of state and government of 47 countries, as well as the presidents of the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament, were invited to the summit.

European Council President Charles Michel told reporters in Brussels that EU enlargement will be among the main topics of the European Political Community summit, as well as the informal EU summit a day later.

He said the current situation in Kosovo will be discussed in the margins of the EU summit, warning that “violence is not acceptable” and that “the disputes between Kosovo and Serbia should be resolved as a condition for EU integration”.

The presidents of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vuciq and Vjosa Osmani, will take part in the European political community summit, while the British newspaper The Guardian, citing unidentified sources, writes there are efforts to organise their meeting “despite political animosity between the two countries”.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called Wednesday for a peaceful solution to the situation in northern Kosovo.

For me, it is very important that the situation does not escalate further when it comes to Serbia and Kosovo. We want a peaceful solution and for that we are very busy with France and Italy,” said Scholz at a joint press conference with Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov.

He added that the issue will also be discussed Thursday and Friday when leaders from nearly 50 European countries meet in Granada, Spain.

Kosovo's president has travelled to Spain yesterday. According to the presidency's announcement, at the invitation of European Union Council President Charles Michel and Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Osmani has left for Granada, Spain, where he will represent Kosovo at the third European Political Community Summit (EPC).

This summit will gather heads of state from 47 European continent countries, as well as leaders of European institutions, in order to promote political dialogue and strengthen co-operation to address the most urgent issues of security and stability in Europe so that Europe is more stable, prosperous and geostrategic. In addition to participating in major European Political Community sessions, President Osmani will also hold discussions with European leaders to inform about Serbia's aggression against Kosovo and discuss deepening co-operation to overcome common challenges. Before European leaders, President Osmani is expected to convey the message of the steadfast dedication of the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for peace, stability and security in the country and the region”, the report said.
