Ker-Lindsey: Founding Association is crucial step towards eventual recognition by Serbia

British LSE Professor James Ker-Lindsey has talked about the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and the recent developments in Brussels.

The international proposal for the Association, Ker-Lindsay, sees it as a possible turning point in the process.

According to him, if Kosovo would agree to establish association, then it would create an argument and space for easier exercise of pressure on Belgrade.

Ker-Lindsay has said that if “secures autonomy, protection for Kosovo Serbs and for religious objects”, then according to him is the time for Serbia to accept Kosovo's independence. The British expert has said that this can't be achieved overnight but that it must start somewhere.

This is what the international community is trying to do. If Kosovo agrees, it creates arguments for easier exercise of pressure on Belgrade. If autonomy is secured, protection for Kosovo Serbs and religious objects is the time for Serbia to accept Kosovo's independence. Clearly, this cannot be accomplished overnight. It's a phase process that should start somewhere”, Ker-Lindssay said of the Voice of America.

Lindsey has even distributed the Voice of America text into his account at „ “saying that peace processes often refer to the order and unlocking of steps on the right scale.

According to him, in Kosovo, establishing association is a crucial step towards eventual recognition by Serbia.
