Zvecan Mayor Ilir Peci has said that for now I will not resign.
He says he has not yet received a formal request for resignation from the government or internationals, so he says it is too early to talk about that.
According to him, the September 24th event in Zvecan Banjska has been a terrorist attack organised by Serbia, and the latter must be condemned by the International Community.
It was a terrorist attack organised by Serbia... It has been a very difficult day for me as mayor, but also for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. However, thanks to the police all that day, it's all over well, and now the situation is calmer and the situation has stabilised slightly in the Zvecan municipality... Such a large organisation, to attack police in its country, certainly yes (Serbia must be condemned by the International Community)... Not at the moment, but to see. ...We still have not been officially handed over to resign, neither by the government of the Republic of Kosovo nor by the internationals. Until something officially comes to us, it's too early to give a thought about this”, he said in an interview for Kosovo Press.
Peci, who is continuing to carry out the post of chairman for nearly five months from an alternative office in the village of Kelmendi, said there have been no visits by government officials until now, though he admits he communicates via email and telephone, primarily with Minister of Local Power Elbert Krasniqi.
However, Peci, who comes from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, indicated that visits have not been missed by the mayor The PDK, Memli Krasniqi and other co-partisans, from whom it said it has also received advice and suggestions.
He says he is not sure whether he will complete the chairman's full mandate, as he said everything in the north is related to political circumstances.
Peci also speaks of the increased interest of Serbian citizens of Zvecan to be equipped with personal documents, which require services in the improvised municipal facility at Kelmendi.
Otherwise, while northern Mitrovica Mayor Erden Attic exercises office from municipal object north of Mitrovica and Lulzim Hetemi leading Leposaviqi is staying in the municipality for more than four months, Ilir Peci, along with Zubin Potolut, Izmir Zeqiri, perform duties from alternative environments. / KP/
