This initiative is agreed along with the Regional Conference on Working in the Western Balkans, which was held in Durres on 28-30 September 2023, in organising the Institute for Social Policy Musine Koklari from Kosovo, the Centre for Emancipation Policy from Serbia, and the Institute for Critics and Social Emancipation from Albania.
At this conference, participants from the six Western Balkan countries shared their knowledge, experiences and expertise to strengthen collective efforts aimed at advancing decent work in the region.
On “Europe's periphery panels: Western Balkan countries from socialism to neo-liberalism” and “The deterioration of labour rights in the Western Balkan region” addressed the historical and contemporary challenges facing the region regarding labour rights and economic transformations.
In addition to panel discussions, six interactive workers were held, focused on core issues related to decent work, including living pay, maintenance as unpaid jobs, health and labour safety, unions, working on the platform, and affecting labour.
The conference offers a platform to exchange better ideas, strategies and practices in promoting fair and equal working conditions in the Western Balkans. This project is the winner of the Edit Community Choices Award, which is supported by the German Federal Foreign Ministry and the EU Fund for Balkans, a co-operation organised by the European Foundations Network.
