Albanian Parliament deputies with 101 votes “for” have approved the resolution in support of Kosovo.
This resolution came after the September 24th terrorist attack in Banjska.
Initially, Albania's Assembly had accepted two draft resolutions. One had presented Edi Rama's Socialist Party, as well as another MEP Gazment Bardha representing a group of Democrat deputies.
The requirement for the Assembly to have only a draft resolution to symbolically express even the unity of Albanian politics in the face of the Kosovo issue prompted the two groups to sit down to agree to a single draft that will be put to the polls.
After a week of talks, just hours before the session, the Socialist Party and the “Refoundation group” of Sali Berisha agreed to a draft resolution.
It says Albania's Parliament resolution supports the Kosovo Parliament resolution adopted on September 28th. It encourages the Government of Albania and encourages that of Kosovo to work with strategic partners for reaching a final agreement between Pristina and Belgrade with recognition of the Republic of Kosovo from Serbia, and urges the Government of Albania to commit to an international investigation of “24 September”.
