Dodik defended the union of Serbs in a speech he delivered during an organised parade in eastern Sarajevo on the 9 January occasion, which RS authorities celebrate as the day of that ethnicity, even though Bosnia and Herzegovina's Constitutional Court, through two decisions, marked the celebration of that date as unconstitutional because it insulted the feelings of Croats and Bosniaks as victims of mass ethnic persecution.
“Serbs should never allow any form of organisation except the Serbian national state, which is RS and Serbia with which we have the right to integrate in accordance with international law,” said Dodik in his speech, claiming RS does not do this by threatening everyone, but by adding that the territory of that subject is only of Serbs because they created it.
He stated that RS remained in BiH only because it was needed and called criminals representatives of the international community trying to steal the freedom from Serbs, while the BiH Constitutional Court called “false and inquisitor”. In the history of mourning, Dodik also declared Bosnian King Tvrtko “undoubtedly a Serb”.
Ahead of Dodik and other Bosnian Serb officials, who joined Serbia's Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic, along with the son of Serbian President Danilo Vuciq, about two thousand participants in the parade, among whom there were more than 700 policemen who appeared armed accompanied by armoured carriers. Dodik's nationalist and separatist rhetoric, like his decision to hand a medal to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the RS Day case, was strongly condemned Monday by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the embassy's statement, note that Putin's award, which is responsible for aggression against Ukraine and the suffering of thousands of civilians, is evidence that Dodik rejects Euro-Atlantic values, as marking January 9th as an unconstitutional holiday, he is pushing RS “on a dangerous” road.
Serbia's “Republika Srpska will only destroy itself and those around it, pushing the prosperity of independence”, says in a statement by the US Embassy posted on Twitter.
