Before the start of this meeting, the mayors have welcomed this meeting with the executive while hoping for greater support from the Kosovo Government.
Rahovec's chairman, Smajl Latifi, who comes from the AAK's ranks, said they would express their demands and frustrations.
“We will express the concerns and needs of our demands, as well as public investments, but also in concrete support from the Government of Kosovo. So far, we have had no support, even if we had had once again been disappointed that the needs and demands of our municipalities and municipalities are much greater than the government's support, but we are not satisfied”, Latifi said.
Ferizaj Mayor Agim Aliu, once head of the Kosovo Communist Association, welcomed the initiative for meeting with Prime Minister Kurti, while saying this year has been more unusual because of the confrontation with some challenges he said he expects to be addressed at the meeting.
“Viti 2022 challenged us, but we as mayors are faced with unusual situations, not in the naturality of the work of the mayors, because they have been issues involving contracts, projects and similar issues, and as they have been a challenge to themselves, and these will certainly be part of the discussion with Prime Minister Kurti and as I said we should be together to facilitate challenges, any unity will make the challenges more difficult and incalculable<1> said Ali.
The chairman of Podujevo, Bulliqi Speed, said that at the meeting with Kurti the priority theme would be budgetary issues, but would take advantage of the opportunity to get up and other topics. He said he has good communication with his associate, chief executive.
“We are working as local powers doing our projects, I believe it's a good communication and everything will be”, he said.
Obilic Chairman Dzafer Gashi stressed the importance of such meetings.
“The central and local level meetings are very necessary because they need common co-ordination, I believe that during the application we will discuss topics and concerns the municipalities have and we expect continued support”, he said.
Gjakova Mayor Ardian Gjini said he is unhappy with the executive's responsibilities.
It's important to meet, we can't know everything there is, the agenda is simplified we are three ministers and the prime minister. We'll see how it works. No, so far we haven't had no support, but we're hoping from now on we'll have”, he said.
The meeting between Kurt and the mayors is being held in Pec, and after opening speeches, it is continuing closed to the media.
