Business representatives in Kosovo have called this decision prolonged, while the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Trade has said this move will be revised at the government's next meeting.

“The decision is finalised and is expected to be addressed very soon at the next meeting of Government”, he said. MINT for Telegrafi.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at the 69th Government meeting, has said that this decision is being made in a situation when the supply chain, influenced by Russian invasion and military aggression in Ukraine, has been difficult.

“Invasion and Russian military aggression in Ukraine has influenced the chain of food supply to Europe, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Trade with relevant institutions and fairies in the market has forwarded the price of products to the country and the evidence of goods exports. MINT has brought the decision to ban export and re-export of certain agro-food products”, Kurti said.

Also, MINT Minister Roseta Hajdari has indicated that export of these products could jeopardise the supply of citizens in the country.

“Export and export of goods as small as it is can risk supplying our population in the future. In co-operation with Kosovo Customs and forwarding exports to daily bases, so to facilitate the state of proposal that the temporary ban on certain basic products be made. The decision is based on the Law on Foreign Trade and Internal Trade. Permission to export or reexport such as cereals, flour, food oil, sugar and salts” is expressed.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Producers Club Board Chairman Berat Mustafa has stressed that continuing this move is endangering businesses in market loss.

“We have agreed with Government, in early April, where there was a population panic, in the region and in Europe to take certain measures for a specific time to protect consumers and panic for essential products. However, we are not of reconciliation with Minister of Commerce Roseta Hajdari for these measures to last five months, so they are long-standing measures, where our producers that market they have had with the export case have begun to lose”, Mustafa says.

According to him, Kosovo has remained the only country in the region that continues to have these measures.

“From the information we possess, some producers to complete the contracts are working with the region to process these products, while local producers must stay, and wait”, he points out.

We are the only state in the region and Europe left for these product stops. While Ukraine and Russia are fighting, they have never stopped exports of essential products. A country that we're stable and have a stable economy, and a considerable development, why should we have these” measures, Mustafa has ended.
