In June 2021, Meta announced he was suspending the ban on Trump for two years, continuing the initial suspension from January 7th that year, a day after a crowd of Trump supporters caused serious riots in America.
Nick Clegg, president of global issues in Meta, told “Semaphore” that former US President Donald Trump's Facebook ban could be lifted as early as January, if a decision is made to restore his account after the suspension expired.
Cleggg said Meta would base its decision on discussions with experts and whether the risk of “damage exists in the real world”, Semapor reported.
If we think there's content on our platform that will lead to damage to the real world, physical damage, then we think we have a clear responsibility to act against it,” said Clegg.
Trump had 35 million followers on Facebook.
Facebook wasn't the only social platform that stopped Trump.
On January 8, 2021, Twitter reported that it had “permanently verified its” account “due to the risk of further inciting violence”.
In February of this year, Trump launched its conservative social platform Social Truth, which has so far been a major failure.
