Iran of Human Rights (IHR), an organisation based in Norway, accused authorities of using non-proportional force and genuine ammunition to suppress the protests.
State media have said the death toll is 41, including several security personnel, as well as blaming <x0-rebels”.
Hundreds of people, including 20 journalists, have been arrested in these protests.
Even the UN Human Rights Office said it was very concerned by the authorities' violent response and urged them to respect the right to protest peacefully.
