A spokesman from Germany's Government has confirmed the November 3rd summit.
The upcoming Berlin Process Meeting will be held on 3 November in Berlin. We seek your understanding because we cannot predict the content of the negotiations. For further details about the meeting, we will inform” in time, the KosovoPress reply reported.
Holding the summit welcomes him to the Government of Kosovo. Does Zulfaj, political adviser to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, says of Kosova Preris, that Kosovo is a powerful supporter of the Berlin Process. He says they are interested in establishing the common regional market in the Western Balkans, where he is given incentives to freedom of movement of citizens, capital, goods and services.
Kosovo is a powerful supporter of the Berlin Process, especially the common regional market, which in November 2020, Western Balkan states have agreed to implement an action plan with four freedoms that are also central to the European Union. That of freedom of people, capital, goods and services. We want to live these in the common regional market, where we have European Union values, standards and regulations. These will be one of the points that we believe and hope will be the subject of the upcoming Berlin Process summit, which will be held in November... We are very interested in reaching regional agreements on these bilaterals, where they create a common market of 17 million people in the Western Balkans, where freedom of movement is provided to citizens, students and businesses. Thus to increase our shared potential, but always by respecting the European Union's values, standards and rules, he says.
On the other hand, the director of the Institute E PIK, Demush Shasha, tells Kosovo Preress that the November 3rd summit will be a contribution to pushing ahead agreements contributing to the creation of the common regional market.
The November 3rd meeting has two goals. The first goal is to serve as the European Union's next example of political attention to the Western Balkans. The second goal is more practical, to turn attention to the creation or operation of the common regional market. There has been a time, a number of agreements have been negotiated which will allow for the establishment of operation of four basic European Union freedoms in the region, but they are stuck. The November 3rd meeting will be a next contribution to postpone these agreements forward and contribute to establishing the common regional market as preparation for membership in the European Union”, he emphasises.
Speaking of regional initiative “Open Balkans”, Kurti's adviser says the Berlin Process testifies to the need for doubling of other initiatives that replicate the same things.
What we've heard every time from Chancellor Merkel earlier, but even now Chancellor Scholz is that no other initiative is mentioned and the Berlin Process alone is mentioned. This is very important for Kosovo and its citizens, who are lined up against European Union values and standards. We are not interested in other initiatives which have neither the source of the EU, but which are not oriented by the European Union's values either. Everything we have has to flow within the framework of the Berlin Process, as there are six states. There we are and there is a need for doubles of initiatives. We should not waste the energy and potential of initiatives that replicate things the same”, he said.
The final summit of the Berlin Process was held on July 5, 2021, under the leadership of German Iskancerale Angela Merkel.
The Berlin process is an initiative aimed at boosting regional co-operation in the Western Balkans and assisting them in the EU integration process, the process launched in 2014 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
