Wisner tells Kurt: Quit Serbia's recognition

Former US special representative for Kosovo-Serbia talks, Frank Wisner, has suggested that Kosovo withdraw from the goal of recognition by Serbia.

He has said it would be better to change goals, as Serbia is not giving signals that this could happen.

Wisner said Kurti would be asked if achieving that goal would be feasible.

He said he understands Kurt, but in the face of the impossible, he's better off dealing with real things.

I totally accept that kind of point of view. It would be indefinitely preferable for Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence, and this would mark the end. Both sides would move forward and become members of the European Union. That would be my bright hope. But the question I ask you, and I would also ask the prime minister: Is it feasible? Is it possible to start from zero to 100? Or might it be better to try to build, carefully, step - by - step, and deal with real things that affect human living. I don't think knowing would be a bite of bread in either side's mouth, or even build a highway, or make a deal. These things can be built practically, and I'm proposing, with all due respect for the perspective of Prime Minister Kurti, I am suggesting a different approach”, Wisner said.
