The head of the Islamic Community has been addressing Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to abolish an administrative ordinance to allow headscarves in public institutions. That requirement is BIC and Muslim believers, according to the November.
Kurti had said in the past that his party does not have a covering ban on programme, saying that it is up to older women themselves to decide whether to wear headscarves or not.
Except for Kurt, Ternava has asked August to act.
“It is a constant requirement of BIK's Headship, its institutions and Muslim believers to be abolished, respectively, to remove all of Article 1.13 in Article 3, in Administrative Guideship 06/2014, because it is discriminating, and as such in some cases there are post-tantiations that are being called to this direction, respectively, the right of schooling denied to students carrying the Muslim cover yah.
We seek from competent bodies, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the prime minister. Albin Kurti, the sooner they cancel this decision, which in itself is discriminated against Kosovo citizens, our children.
However, this current BIK request should not be politicised or polarised, but should be addressed with full responsibility and precision.
Kosovo Mufti,
Naim Eph. Ternava”
