Ex-Sov. Minister of Education: Government offers additional compensation to public sector workers, punishment of strikers is not a solution

Former Deputy Education Minister and former Director of Education in Pristina from LVV ranks Yusuf Thaci has said the government should find common language with SBASK by providing an additional compensation for public sector workers. He says this should happen because the cost of living in Kosovo has significantly increased times [...]
He says this should happen because the cost of living in Kosovo has increased significantly recently.
Kosovo's “Government needs to increase wages in the public sector as soon as it can, at least to the level that wage growth reflects rising cost of living. Until this salary increase is done with the relevant law in the procedure, the Government must find common language with public sector workers' unions to secure additional compensation for public sector workers”, Thaci wrote on Facebook.
It has come out against threats being posed to strikers from state institutions.
“under current circumstances, the threat of punishing the strikers is neither fair nor the solution” has ended Thaci.
By contrast, today the public sector in Kosovo has launched a general strike, as unionists have failed to agree with the Government of Kosovo about their demand for 100 euros' support.
And after the strike began, the Finance Ministry has asked the Grevis Council for the list of people participating in the strike to halt their salary under Article 18 of the Greek Law.
